– The Best Day on the Ocean

Sandbank, Snorkeling, Seafood BBQ & Baobab Island – Full Day Paradise

Every time is different, every time is wow. You sail on a traditional wooden dhow, you snorkel on best coral in Zanzibar, you eat lobster on white sandbank in middle of ocean, you climb 500-year-old baobab tree on Kwale Island, and you swim in natural lagoon that looks like Maldives.

This is not just tour. This is day you will tell your children about.

FULL PROGRAM – YOUR 8:30 AM TO 4:30 PM PARADISE DAY

8:30 AM – Pickup From Your Hotel
I pick you from Paje, Jambiani, Stone Town, Nungwi – anywhere. We drive to Fumba – fishing village in southwest – 30 min from Stone Town. Most beautiful road – you see sea from both sides.

9:30 AM – Fumba Beach – Welcome & Board Your Dhow
We arrive Fumba beach – small beach, dhows waiting, no big resorts. Welcome with coffee and local sweets.

You get traditional wooden dhow – not big tourist boat – our dhow has cushions, shade, music. Captain and crew – 3 local sailors, funny and safe. 8-10 guests max per dhow (not 25 like others).

We start sailing – pole pole, wind only. No engine noise.

10:00 AM – 10:30 AM – Dolphin Watching on the Way
On way to sandbank, we pass Menai Bay Conservation Area – dolphins live here! Bottlenose and humpback. If lucky, they swim next to dhow! We stop, watch, not chase.

10:30 AM – 11:30 AM – SAND BANK – Ocean in Middle of Nowhere

First stop – secret sandbank that appears only at low tide – white sand, in middle of ocean, no land around! Water turquoise, knee-deep, crystal.

  • Swim, walk, drone photos (I help with drone shot!)
  • Fresh fruits – mango, pineapple, watermelon – cut in front of you
  • Snorkel – water so clear you see fish without snorkel
  • You feel like you are only person on earth

This sandbank changes every day – nature makes it new!

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM – SNORKELING – Best Coral in Zanzibar

We sail 15 min to coral reef – protected Menai Bay.

  • Snorkeling with full gear – masks, fins included
  • Reef is alive! 100+ fish types – parrot fish, angelfish, clownfish, starfish
  • Coral garden – brain coral, table coral – not broken like north
  • Guide swims with you, shows where octopus hides
  • Safe for beginners – water calm, shallow 2-4m, life jackets

Even if you never snorkeled – I teach you 2 min and you love it.

12:30 PM – 1:00 PM – Sail to Kwale Island – Through Mangroves
We sail through mangrove forest – green islands, birds, old dhow boats. You see how mangroves protect Zanzibar. Captain tells story of Kwale.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – KWALE ISLAND – Seafood BBQ Feast + Baobab + Lagoon

We arrive Kwale Island – wild island, no people live, only baobab trees!

1. Seafood BBQ Lunch – Eat With Hands!
On beach, our chef already grilling!

Menu – all fresh from this morning catch:

  • Lobster / Giant Prawns (when season)
  • Fish – red snapper, calamari, octopus
  • Rice, chapati, coconut sauce
  • Tropical fruits
  • Cold drinks – sodas, beers, water
  • Vegetarian option available – grilled veggies, beans, rice

You eat on low table on sand, under shade – feet in sand, ocean in front. Best lunch in Zanzibar!

2. Kwale Old Baobab Tree – 500 Years Old!
After lunch, walk 5 min to huge baobab – 20 meters, so big 10 people can’t hug. 500 years old! You climb inside? Some baobabs hollow – you can stand inside! I show you how we use baobab fruit for juice.

3. Kwale Lagoon – Natural Swimming Pool
Walk other side of island – natural lagoon, green-blue water, surrounded by baobab and mangrove. Like Maldives! Water calm, warm, perfect swim after lunch. You can float, relax. No waves.

4. Beach & Relax
Free time – sleep on beach, collect shells, I take photos for you.

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Sail Back to Fumba – Sunset Sailing
We sail back slowly – wind behind us, music, you are tired happy. Sun lower, sky pink. We sail pole pole – best time for photos with sails.

We arrive Fumba 4:00-4:30 PM – drive back to hotel.
