My friend, have you ever seen the sun melt into the Indian Ocean?

In Zanzibar, sunset is not just sunset. It’s a ceremony. The sky becomes orange, pink, red, purple. The water becomes gold. And you are in the middle of it – sitting on a traditional wooden dhow boat, with music, cold drink, and no stress.

I do this cruise every evening with my wife. It’s our favorite 2 hours of the day. Let me take you.

FULL PROGRAM – YOUR 2 HOUR MAGIC EVENING

We sail every day: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM – Don’t be late, sun waits for nobody!

4:30 PM – Meet at Stone Town Beach / Forodhani or Nungwi / Kendwa Beach
I meet you at the beach. Your dhow is waiting – white sails, wooden, handmade by my uncle. No engine, only wind. This is how our grandfathers fished 200 years ago.

You take off shoes – we sit on cushions, like in a living room on the sea. Very comfortable.

4:45 PM – We Sail – Pole Pole Music & Stories
We push the boat and open sails. Quiet… only wind and water.

My crew plays old Taarab music from Zanzibar – soft drums, old Swahili love songs. I bring cold drinks – sodas, water, beers, and fresh tropical fruits – mango, pineapple, watermelon. For private cruise we bring wine.

We sail slowly along Stone Town – you see Old Fort, House of Wonders from the sea – best view! If we sail from Nungwi/Kendwa, you see cliffs, small islands, fishermen sailing home.

I tell you stories about dhow boats – how we build them without nails, only wood and rope, how they sailed to India with spices.

5:30 PM – THE SUNSET – Time Stops
Then it happens. The sun becomes big, red, so close you can touch. Sky changes every 2 minutes. Everyone becomes quiet. Couples hug. I take best photos for you – silhouette with sails, sun in your hands. You will use this photo for 10 years!

If you are lucky, you see dolphins jumping in sunset light.

6:00 PM – Back Slowly With Lights of Stone Town
Sun is gone, but sky is still pink. We sail back slowly. Stone Town lights turn on – mosques calling for prayer, Forodhani food market starting. So peaceful. You feel like you are in a movie.

6:30 PM – We Arrive Back – Happy
We land. You are still dreaming. Perfect time to go to Forodhani for seafood dinner – I show you best place.

• 10AM – 6:30PM: Safari Blue style but private dhow
• Snorkeling, sandbank BBQ lunch, then finish with sunset cruise – Full day paradise.

• Duration: 2 hours – 4:30PM to 6:30PM sharp
• Departure: Every day – but need to book before 2PM – boats fill fast in high season!
• Best place for sunset? Stone Town for cultural view (fort + town lights) – Nungwi/Kendwa for more open sea & cliff sunset – both amazing.
• Will I get seasick? No, water is very calm at sunset, no waves. Boat is big and stable. Safe for elders and kids.
• What to bring? Camera, light jacket (little breeze), flip flops, good mood. No need swimsuit.
• Can kids come? Yes! Kids love dhows. Under 5 FREE.
• Is it safe? Very safe. Our captains have 20+ years. Life jackets for all.
